Art In The Open

Elora’s Plein Air Event. Monday, August 5, 2013 10am-6pm (Rain date Sunday, August 11th). Elora has always been known as a destination for the arts and this year, Art in the Open will be no exception to the talents one will witness. Artists from all areas of Ontario will be creating original works while at their easels on the sidewalks of Elora. The amazing architecture and scenery will be made timeless at the hands of these artists. A silent auction of works will be open to the public from 5-6pm in the Elora Green space. Also, this year, Art in the Open plans to give back to the community by donating a portion of sales to the ongoing costs of the Green space! This promises to be a spectacular event for all ages to enjoy!

Elora Interpretive Site

There will be a new look coming to East Mill early in the Summer! The previous Penhaligan’s store, located at 10 East Mill, is going to have its front windows made over as a photographic collage for the public to get to know the history of the village of Elora.

Images are predominately from the Elora BIA district, including both people and places. There will be a small guide to all the photos (so you know what each one is) as well as a brief written history of the town. This is a joint project by Centre Wellington Hydro, The Wellington County Museum & Archives, Fergus-Elora Tourism and the Elora BIA. Watch for it coming soon!

Elora Sculpture Project Launches Third Season

We’re pleased to announce that The Elora Sculpture Project has entered its third exhibition season.

For 2013, one new site has been added giving us a total of ten. This year’s selected sculptures show a broad range of subjects, colours and materials. You’ll find works in clay, glass, wood, steel, aluminum, mixed media, stone and bronze. About half of the participating artists live in Elora or Fergus with others coming from Alma, Belwood, Morriston, Proton Station and Uxbridge. The works will remain on display until October. After two years being funded solely by the Elora BIA, the project has now received additional financial support from Noecker Travel and Secure Insurance.

New Website Up & Running

We are pleased that after much hard work, your new BIA website is up and running: The site boasts a lot of features, both seen and “behind the scenes.” Most importantly, we are now working on getting the user interface set up. This is a program whereby each merchant will be able to access and change the information about their own company, without having to contact the Administrator to do so. For those who are computer-challenged, though, the option to have the Administrator look after your page for you remains. Please review the site at your leisure and as always, your feedback is most welcome.
